Our Jack Petchey Foundation “Outstanding Achiever” for January is Ivy Thorpe – a member of our Under 13 Girls team.
It was great for the Club to receive a nomination from one of the players in the team – well done Macy for doing this. Most nominations are made by Managers. Let’s have more from players!!

Macy in making her nomination said: ” Ivy is always encouraging to all her teammates and the first to congratulate them on their achievements. She gives us all a big boost for every game. Ivy is a good defensive midfielder who is improving her game every week.

Ivy has been unfortunate with injuries but she still has a smile on her face and still shows up for her team. We all want Ivy to know how important she is to the team and this award will help with that. The prize money would also help fund her endless supply of ice packs!!”

Our second Jack Petchey Foundation “Outstanding Achiever” for January is William Brighton, a member of the Under 16 Titans team.

Team Manager Kevin said :

“William joined Junior Reds Titans U16 as a left back but has happily played central defence for us when required putting the needs of the team first.

Through good games and tough games, he has been a positive influence in his attitude and manner, encouraging his fellow players in training and matchdays. He always plays with a smile on his face and is 100% committed.

William is someone who is always reliable at training and match day. An excellent time keeper setting a good example. William has a professional manner and is an excellent representative for Junior Reds”.

Our Under 11 Valiants Team Manager – Francesco Ponno – recently attend a Referee course held by the Kent Football Association.

This involved completing on-line learning on the Laws of the Game and face to face training. Five matches are then undertaken to fully qualify as a Referee.

Francesco was supported and partly sponsored by Junior Reds.

Francesco is available to Referee Junior Reds games if matches do not clash with his Under 11 Valiants team commitments.

We always encourage interested Parents, Players and Coaches to qualify as Referees. If the Club has a pool of qualified Referees to call upon from time to time this greatly helps the Club and enhances the playing experience of our players.

385 members (Players; Parents and guests) of Junior Reds visited the Valley, Charlton Athletic Football Club, on the 14th December to see the “Addicks” League One match against Mansfield Town.

This was an initiative – working in partnership with Charlton Athletic – to enhance our relationship with the Club. The level of interest was very strong and is an initiative that could be repeated in the future.

Special thanks to Anna in managing this event – not easy with so many people requesting matchday tickets across the Club.

We have donated boxes of chocolates to children in Darenth Valley Hospital for Christmas.

A big “thank you” to all our Club members donating chocolate boxes in this initiative. Special thanks to Rebecca (one of our Fixtures Secretaries) in organising this and with players visiting the Hospital.

Our Under 11 Sabres boys and Under 13 girls shared a unique experience in early December.

The teams visited Millwall FC as special guests. They formed a guard of honour to welcome the Millwall and Coventry teams as they arrived onto the pitch prior to their Championship game. Our teams then watched the match.

Thanks to Rebecca and other Management members in organising this special day.

Our Jack Petchey “Outstanding Achiever” for November is Ben (“Ayo”) Agyemang.

Ben is a member of our Adult Senior team.

Team Manager, Nii Bruce-Tagoe, said in making the award:
“Ben is a dedicated and talented football player and an exceptional contributor to our community. His commitment to the sport is evident not only in his own performances but also in his willingness to help others. He consistently volunteers his time during our Wednesday training sessions, working with our team and passing on his knowledge and skills. Ben’s mentorship has been invaluable in the development of these younger players, and his positive attitude and leadership qualities set an excellent example for everyone involved”.

Two visitors to Wednesday training last week were Jodie Hutton and Charlotte Newsham from the Charlton Women Championship team.

The players met the Under 12 Warriors Girls and the Under 15 Girls during their training sessions. The girls asked the players a variety of questions about life as a professional player and their careers to date.
