Jack Petchey Special Achiever – February

Our Jack Petchey Special Achiever for February is Molly Howe – a member of our Under 11s Roses team.

Team Manager Adam said “Molly leads by example on and off the pitch, putting 100% into all training drills and in every minute of every match. The girls in the team look to Molly to show the way in the tough times and that no nonsense and never say die attitude has permeated through the team as infectious determination . The arm around her team-mates shoulder, the encouragement to the team when heads start to drop and seeing all the laughs, jokes and hugs between the team after the match really does demonstrate how the rest of the girls see Molly as a positive influence”.

Jack Petchey Special Achiever – January

One of our two Jack Petchey Special Achievers for the month of January is Olly Crook – a member of the Under 13 Athletic.

Team Manager, Chris, said “Since joining the team last season Olly has been an integral part of the team. Olly is committed, loyal, always enthusiastic, hard working and supportive of other players. Olly is respected by all his team mates and parents alike. Olly is a great credit to his team and Junior Reds and we are lucky to have him in the team”.

Welcome Under 9 Knights

Over the Christmas period four new Junior Reds teams were formed.

Junior Reds Womens’ Football

Junior Reds Womens’ football team welcome additional players of all abilities.

Players need to be aged 16+ to be eligible for Womens’ football.

The team meets midweek in the Sports Hall at Townley Grammar School, Bexleyheath, on Thursday evenings at 6.00pm.

Matches are played on Sundays afternoons (at 2.00pm) with home games at Greenwich University in New Eltham, SE9.

Girls Saturday Football Club

Our ALL Girls Saturday football group is for children of Primary School age wishing to learn the basics of football in a friendly and supportive environment.

This group aims for children to:-
• socialise;
• have fun;
• build a little fitness;
• is non- competitive;
• is open to girls of ALL abilities.

Our main objective is to give girls greater self confidence in playing football without pressure – all of us learning together.

Ideally – if sufficient interest exists – new girls teams will be formed (Under 7s; 8; 9s; 10s and 11s) from players attending this group.

We are based on the field at Bexleyheath Academy (post code DA6 7DA) on Saturday mornings from 10.00am until 11.00am.

Just come along and join in whenever you and your daughter are available. All are welcome.

New Under 10s Teams Make Their League Debuts

Two of our newest teams played their first games in the Selkent League on the 7th January.

The teams – one called “Spartans” and the other “Titans” – both started their League programme with home matches played at Danson Youth Centre.

Many of these players were once members of our casual based “Saturday Soccer Club”. Joining the League is a major step up for the players into competitive games. They all enjoyed the learning experience.

New Under 7s, 9s and 10s Teams Being Formed

We are busy forming new “Mini Soccer” teams at Under 7s, Under 9s and
Under 10s level to start in the Selkent League in January.

All teams train in the Bexleyheath area on Saturday mornings.

New Saturday Training Venue – Saint Columbus School, Bexleyheath

The Club have added to our Schools venues for Saturday training with the use of Saint Columbus School in Bexleyheath.

Club Chairman, Clive, explained “We have received feedback that our teams training at Bexleyheath Academy, Townley Grammar School and Welling Schools require additional space for training purposes on Saturday mornings. We have accordingly moved four teams to Saint Columbus School to reduce pressures elsewhere. The School offers some excellent facilities and is in an ideal location for us in Bexleyheath”.

FA Facilities Fund Small Grants Scheme

Junior Reds have purchased two new junior size “Sabre Academy” portable goals for use by teams during training at Bexleyheath Academy. These goals were part funded by the Football Foundation Under the FA Facilities Fund Small Grants Scheme.

The goals arrived in twelve boxes requiring a large amount of assembling. Parents and supporters from the Under 13 Athletic team helpfully stepped in to construct these two goals on the field. The work required a full Saturday morning.

A big thank you goes to the Parents and supporters – not forgetting the contributions from the Team Managers of Chris, Lee and Chris from the Under13 Athletic and Knights teams. Well done to all.

Jack Petchey Special Achiever for November

Our Jack Petchey Special Achiever for November is Alvin Agyemang – a member of our Senior Adult team.

The Seniors Team Manager, Nii Bruce-Tagoe, commented:

“Alvin is an exceptional young man who is very passionate about doing work in his community. He regularly goes back to his former secondary school to volunteer.

Alvin is determined to obtain his football coaching badges and to then coach the younger generation.

Alvin has fitted well into the team being dominant in defence helping us improve”.

Well done Alvin!
