One of our deserved special achievers under the Jack Petchey scheme is James Poole, the Coach for the Under 12 Junior Reds Athletic team. James received his certificate for April.
Team Manager Chris said: “James has great confidence and motivation to get the best out of the team. He is an inspiring role model. Week after week James demonstrates his understanding of the game and carefully analyses the team needs so we can improve. James was instrumental in adding an extra midweek training session and has given up his spare time over the last year to inspire the boys to give their best”.

Junior Reds is delighted to announce that the club has been awarded a grant from the Barclays Community Football Fund, being delivered in partnership with Sported. The grant has been awarded to provide introductory starter football sessions for girls of primary school age in a friendly, fun and supportive environment.
Coach, Clive, explained “We are keen to expand our football opportunities for girls from age 6 to 11 years. We will do this by offering football sessions exclusively for girls of all abilities on Saturday mornings at Bexleyheath Academy from 11.00am to midday.
These sessions will be provided free of charge as the cost is supported by the Barclays Community Football Fund. Hopefully we will generate enough interest to form some new girls’ teams at Under 8 – 11s next season”.
All girls of Primary School age are very welcome to come along. Further details can be obtained from Clive on 07504 264 157 or email clive@juniorredsfc.co.uk
Additional information:
The Barclays Community Football Fund offers grants, training and support resources to help reduce inequalities in the participation of football. The fund supports local organisations supporting young people from under-represented groups to start or keep playing.
Sported is the largest network of community sports groups in the UK, supporting almost 3,000 groups helping young people facing disadvantage to build confidence, gain skills and get their lives on track.
As a club we are collecting donations that can be transported to Turkey following the devastating earthquake.
Items needed include blankets, sleeping bags, warm clothes, hats, scarfs, gloves, trousers, socks, shoes, coats and hygiene items.
If you want to contribute to this worthy cause one of our parents will be stationed (look for a Black Hyundai Santa Fe) at Goals Bexleyheath car park close to the entrance to our training pitches at Bexleyheath Academy this Saturday (11th February). Please bring any items by 10.50am as they need to be delivered to the collection point (Blackfen School for Girls) by 1pm.
A Jack Petchey Award was made to Juste Petkeviciute in January – a member of the Junior Reds Women’s team.
Juste is an excellent and committed team member setting very high standards for her peers. Juste will always put the needs of the team first. Juste has played in a variety of positions in the team whenever a need exists – which is quite often! She attends training on a regular basis always looking to improve her performances each week. She is a pleasure to coach and is respected in the team for her energy and determination to do her best.
